Holiday shopping season is in full swing! Most people have at least one child in their lives, whether it is their own child, grandchild, or a niece or nephew. It can be difficult to decide what type of toy or gift to buy for a child, and we have some tips to help make the process a little easier.

SkillSetList1. Know the personality of the child. Are they outgoing and talkative, or more on the quiet side? Are they active and always running around and playing, or do they prefer to sit and read a book or work on a puzzle?

2. Know what the child’s interests and hobbies are. Do they play a sport? What are their favorite television shows or books? What type of music do they enjoy?

3. Knowing the child’s age and skill level. For smaller children, stick to fun easy toys with bold colors and soothing sounds. For more precocious children it’s ok to look at gifts with an age range a year or two older as long as there are no small parts for kids under 3 (choking hazard).

Once you have done your research, then you begin the fun part- shopping! The Learning Journey International has hundreds of toys to choose from that suit any age or education level of the child. We also group our toys by age and by category, so it’s very easy to find what you are looking for. We have researched the learning process in-depth, and have an expert understanding of what types of toys work for children on every level.
